From Ricky’s Table: My Favorite Spot for Lunch – Vinhos & Brasas
One of the questions I get asked most as the owner of Tasca Do Ricky is: “Ricky, where do you go out to eat?” Running a restaurant means I spend plenty of time around food, but when lunchtime rolls around and I want to sit down somewhere special, my answer is always the same: Vinhos & Brasas.
They only open for lunch, but believe me, that’s all they need. Their menu is excellent—plenty of variety, always fresh, and prepared with that honest Portuguese touch that makes you feel at home. It’s the kind of meal where you sit down, take a bite, and think, “Yes, this is exactly what lunch should be.” And the best part? The prices are very affordable, which makes it even easier to keep going back.
Of course, you can’t talk about Vinhos & Brasas without mentioning the wine. As the name suggests, they’ve got a wonderful selection. Whether you’re in the mood for something light and crisp or deep and full-bodied, they’ve got the perfect glass to match your meal. There’s nothing better than taking that first sip and realizing the pairing is just right.
At Tasca Do Ricky, I’m known for my “no more than 4” rule—it’s how I keep the kitchen running smoothly and the food consistent. But when I’m at Vinhos & Brasas, I’m just another happy customer, enjoying good food, good wine, and good company.
So if you’re in Faro at lunchtime and wondering where to go, give Vinhos & Brasas a try. Chances are, you’ll see me there, too.
See you at the table,
— Ricky
